It didn’t start as a business. It started as a way to heal.

When life felt heavy and uncertain, baking became my safe place. Measuring, mixing, and waiting gave me rhythm when everything else felt chaotic
At 18, I came to Canada as a refugee looking for a new beginning. Starting over in a new country wasn’t easy, but in the quiet of a small kitchen I found peace. The smell of butter and sugar reminded me of home. Baking reminded me that comfort can be created, even from scratch.
At first, I baked for myself and the people I love. Their smiles and the empty plates made me wonder if this could be something more. So I took a leap and started ChewyPuff from my home kitchen. In the first few months I sold over 500 cookies, learning what people loved and perfecting every recipe along the way.
ChewyPuff is about comfort, joy, and connection. Every thick, gooey cookie is baked to feel like a warm hug in every bite.
And because healing shouldn’t stop with me, 2% of every sale supports local mental health programs. It’s a small way to give back to the community that helped me find my footing.
My dream is to grow ChewyPuff into a cookie truck, a moving kitchen of fresh-baked cookies bringing warmth to neighborhoods, markets, and events across Ottawa. I want ChewyPuff to be more than a bakery. I want it to be a reminder that comfort and kindness can be shared.
Today, ChewyPuff is a small but growing community of cookie lovers. My customers aren’t just buying cookies; they’re sharing moments, creating rituals, and finding comfort in life’s little indulgences. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where this journey goes next.
